Baby Backpacking Bonanza

Ahhh... another amazing week! We are reminded daily that we are so blessed with incredible friends. This week we had the pleasure of visiting our dear friends, Kyle, Kara, their son BoLars (who was born just 2 days after Ariana) and their dog Junebug, at their mountain home right outside of Durango, Colorado. (We are secretly plotting their arranged marriage to occur in the years to come.) How nice it was to have other like-minded parents, at the same stage in parenthood, to openly and honestly share our trials and tribulations, triumphs, memorable moments, tips and tricks, recipes, and baby herbal medicines, etc., with no fear of judgement or competition. A real blessing it was to just sit back and witness their parenting journey and get a merE glimpse into their world.
It was a week of firsts for Ariana... her first time boating, swimming in the river, overnight backpacking, hanging by the campfire, and even her first nudie photo shoot with a boy :) Scandalous! :) Both babies were real troopers during all of our many adventures and there were so many ridiculously adorable moments with the two of them exploring the world together.

Babies, boats, and backpacks,... fly fishing, life-long friends and feasting. Exploring new areas of wilderness in a state we used to call home. Bees, butterflies, and naked baby booties. Wildflowers, rugged mountains, boulders, and river crossings. Dry air, deer, chipmunks and big ol' beavers. Searching for fresh spring water sources, icy river plunges to enliven the spirit.... and the smell of spruce and pine. Unquenchable thirst, sunburn, sleepless nights, and crusty boogers. Teas, turbans, teething woes and tandem swing rides. Silly songs, simultaneous giggles, sleepy meltdowns and sunhat struggles. Heartfelt connection, countless moments of crazy cuteness,... continued blessings. Much gratitude.

Ariana's is so excited to be back on the road again :)
