So I looked back at my blog from our last trip and my last post was our baby announcement from back in Thailand last March :-) Oh, how time flies! Ariana is 8 1/2 months old now and is such a little ball of joy. Being back "on travel" again after being rooted for a little over a year now is exciting. We were really starting to get the itch again, so we felt it was definitely time to introduce her to our gypsy ways. We decided easing her in with a little road trip stateside from the East Coast to the west and back, visiting National Parks and distant friends and family along the way was a great first trip. And so here we are.
We only have about two months, which given our previous travels, feels fairly short, but it should be an amazing journey none the less. :-) Ariana is a good teacher at being present and looking at the world through a new and exciting eye, which will make the trip feels longer and more intentional. Everything is new to her, therefore no assumptions or expectations are ever made, tainting her experience. As an adult, I find this practice really challenging… I think this is why I love travel so much. Spontaneity, flexibility, no set plans, just going with the flow… Being lead… Following.
And so it begins. We harvested some veggies from our garden, packed the car to the gills with camping gear, food and a plethora of baby regalia/ accoutrements. (most of which consist of baby containment devises) A short jaunt to the East Coast for a little dip in the ocean and visit with my parents and we're off! See ya on the flip side,... or along the journey! Coming soon to a town near you!!!!
ROAD TRIP!! Ariana has been a rock star in the car... she's a born traveller
